No, you need the toyota quick fix, install a relay, trigger it from the ignition wire that runs into the starter now, i guarantee it will work.
Every toyota ive ever owned has had this problem at one stage, install the relay and never worry about it again.

i had this problem in my hilux, 5L engine. it was because i went through water i believe. every now and then my motor would start, other times it didnt. the problem eventually fixed itself after two weeks of not working correctly, i think it just died itself out haha. your could always get your starter motor reconditioned just to be on the safe side.
Yer it does make a poor connection, and when a wire is years old that triggers a f&&&ken big solenoid it fails, rather than messing about running new shit etc etc etc, a relay is a simple fail proof fix
But of course as above battery flat etc. water mud, clogs the contacts etc etc, even with mud the relay will fix it.. as everyone does when they first get their truck they run it through puddles/mud etc, and relay fixed it.

it will be one of 3 things
1 the contacts in your barrel/keyswitch are a bit dirty this causes reduced voltage at the solenoid causing it not to pulling as hard not making the main contacts due to them being slightly worn requiring more force to push them together
the relay mod will fix this
bashing may help to get you home
this can be checked by placing a volt meter on the trigger wire to the stater solenoid( maybe 10v or less)also check for 0 v from out put from solenoid
2 the contacts are muddy in the starter solenoid
this will normally sort its self out after a period but some times it will not and as mentioned some times the relay mod may help by giving the solenoid more power to break thru the mud ,corrosion, crud etc but not always
i when i build my trucks in the wiring loom stage add a relay and i still have to clean contact after a big mud bath
bashing may help
this can be checked by putting a volt meter on the out put terminal from the solenoid (should be virtually 0v)
3 the brushes are worn or full of mud
clean them out or replace them
bashing may help
this can be checked by putting a volt meter on the out put terminal from the solenoid section (you should have battery voltage)
