Hi guys,
Car;
87' Toyota Hilux d/c
Problem;
I was parked on a hill with the hilux handbrake on ( in low range in gear )
Put clutch in and it pretty much popped itself out of 4wd.
I now can't move the 4wd stick into any 4wd gear. It moves around a little but cannot budge it with my strength..
I drove for a while tried straightening wheel and not. Reveresed, double clutched everything it normally requires to put the 4wd stick into gear.
Any suggestions?
Has anyone else had this kind of thing happen to them?
My search of '4wd AND stuck' / '4wd OR transmission' / '4wd AND transmission' / '4wd OR stuck OR transmission' returned things like the 'my wife wants me to go to a brothel' thread soo thought I'd make a post, let me know if theres already a thread anyone can remember.
Cheers,
Dean.

Firstly, don't go to a brothel.
I don't know much about Yota boxes, but when this happens with Sierras, it is usually because the shifter sheet/bush thingy has disintegrated. Maybe try pulling the stick up a bit as you try and select?
Also try posting this in the Yota section.
If you do want to go to a brothel, let me know, my mate's sister is a Madame at a high class joint in Sydney.

Remove the gearbox/transfer stick rubber boot, remove the 6? bolts that hold the cover on, then pull the transfer stick sirclip etc out, the selector will then pull out it has a washer etc dont lose them, put plenty of grease in there and then put it back where 2wd would be positioned, or in any gear so long as you put the stick back in the right position for that gear (as in dont put the stick in arse about upside down, sideways etc., mine locks up every now and then so i did the dodgy and didnt put the sirclip back but bolted the cover back on so dust etc cant get in so when it jams up i just lift the selector out (20mm is enough) and put it back into any gear and away you go again. (10 secs to fix it that way)
When mine first did it i cracked a hissy fit and kicked it haha and it still didnt budge so abuse doesnt solve it

had a very similar thing happen on my old rocky but it popped into neutral over a bump so had to be towed home
Easy enough of a fix once you know whats going on tho.

cheers guys that was it. I just had it apart this arvo.. once I took it out I was trying to figure out how it was supposed to work pretty complex lol. So I just put it back into where it was with some grease and it seemed to work... was still a fair bit of grease there and wasn't too dirty.. still dunno why it wasnt working..
But yea, put it back togethor and it's back to normal again cheers I'm glad it wasn't anything worse.
