Prado rear axle vs 4 runner rear axle

Post by ferrit »

Ello all.

further to my thoughts on coiling the back of the lux, does anyone know how the prado chassis and axles compare to the 4runners? Im thinking if i buy a half prado chassis rather than a runner half chassis, i get coil springs AND factory rear disk brakes?

Will it work? :D

Already running 16inch rims, I'd say it would't be much harder if at all to install the prado rear over a 4runner one. Prado has drum style shoes inside the rear disc for the handbrake (same as LC80's) so either source a complete prado handbrake setup or do away with it if you have a tailshaft handbrake. Handbrake lever is on the centre console floor, so thats something else to think about.

yeah- what i want to make sure of is that it will be a relatively easy cut out and weld in job like the 4Runners.

if i can get 4 wheel disk brakes, i sure as hell will! might have to go visit the wreckers and take a measuring tape to see what i can find out.

and yeah- already went up to 16" rims when the 33's went on, so no biggie there! :D

lol, would be much easier with your old mans prado to measure and compare. Anyway I measured 940mm as the distance in between the chassis rails and approximately 760mm is the width of coils taken from centre of the coils.

the only other main thing is that the shocks are infront of the axle, and I prefer them to be behind like the runners.
