In a goggle I think it would only be the lense that would meet a standard, with helmets the helmet itself has a standard and the lense is a different standard. I think the lense is under AS1069, would probably be for goggles aswell. Sunglasses are under a different AS std again. Someone else might have a definant answer...
maybe try some places that sell the safety gear they use... race and rally??macca81 wrote:its a buggy event. the event organisers have sup regs for them. i think its a load of crap
some clubs? http://www.gorba.org.au/
or contact the association, and ask them for some makes and models

bogged, have tried the race suply shops, and they all have CE rated goggles, but not one has heard of an AS for googles. not in the same catagory as helmets/visors etc. only AS is for safety goggles you find in a workshop etc.
i think that the events guys have cocked up. have sent off an email to them questioning it, so will see what they have to say

Not sure of a standard for automotive goggles, but would assume any racing goggle from a motor cross-shop would be fine. Had a look in the standards site and AS1909 has nothing to do with goggles?
AS/NZS 1337 and AS/NZS 1338 refer to safety glasses and goggles but for industry standards. If they meet an AS/NZS standard for industry they have to have markings on the lens (can be on the front or side of the lens)
XIO - First letter is the brand, second indoor or outdoor rating, third for impact rating and then others for polarised, laser etc.
UVEX supply allot of industry and leisure specific safety glasses and goggles. Any safety supplier can explain what type is best, but as I said the motor cross goggles should be ok.
Uvex have a good website http://www.uvex.de/english
(X=uvex brand, O=outdoor use, I=medium impact, V=high impact, P=polarised)
