choice of these tyres - simex pedes, cooper STT's or maxxis?

just wanna know wat'd be your choice of thses 3 tyres as i can get em alot cheaper than normal brand new...im goin for 31's and will be used daily as well...

the centipedes are cheaper than the other 2 at under $260/pop
then the stt and apprently the treps the most expensive...

ive had the treps before they were my first choice but im thinkn the pedes might just be the go as they are cheaper and fairly aggresive but wat'd you choose?

As a daily mate i'de say the Stt, however consider the silverstone extreams. i haven't had a ny personal experiance with them but i hear only good things

yeah the STT's for daily driving. Pede's & Treps I personally wouldn't run on a daily.

i have silverstone extreams on my sierra and i do a lot of ks, i will drive 1000ks in a day to go fishing.
they are great tyres and are wearing well, i just put ear muffs on when i am
traveling. i have a set of MTR's as well but i dont bother putting them on.

yea well since the treps are the most expensive i was thinkn pedes first then STT...pedes cos they're cheaper but STT cos of the sidewall protection but other factor was daily use..cheers will have a think bout the STT's now still a choice between the pedes n stt yet..

Are you talking simex centerpede mud terrains or the extreme trekkers? Cause they are vastly different tyres and the ET pedes would normally cost more than the stt's and maxxis but are in a different league.

nah simex centerpede muds not the extreme trekkers they are nice but. im thinkn i might go with the Simex centipedes atm as they are cheaper and are fairly aggressive..

anyone have daily use experience with these? i dont mind road noise, and i dont drive to far to work - 6km a day...how do they wear ect

i can't see how a trepador could be the most expensive i would do some more shopping. Also i run my trepadors as my every day tyres and they are great on everything, quieter and better all round than my BFG at's and at this stage i have had them for 18 months and they are wearing great.

yea i know i was told the treps and stt have gone up in price like $300+ and that simex were available at under $260...

the treps ive had before 31's and they are great on road and off thats why i wanted them again - atm if i can get treps cheaper than $300/tyre then that'd be my choice other wise the centipedes might just be the go i think...
just askin for some on road experience with em...

so are in your price range.

simex's well the et2's are only good for mud nothing else in my opinion go the maxxis's the ones the guys are using in the comps and if ur driving on the road u need a RADIAL tyre....

i've got a set of Cooper STT on my jimny (235/75/15) just for daily driving now and they seem to be a pearla off road too, picked them up second hand though, but still have well over 80%, i can only compare them to some wrangers and Federal MTR's which i've had on the jimny....

im loving my STTs (armortek type) they grip better in the wet than my old 215/75 HT tyres! (cooper front, goodyear rear) on road and offroad theyre just brilliant. They dont clear themselves of mud until you can spin a wheel or exceed 30km/hr though, but otherwise great on all surfaces. Mine have chipped a little from "fast cornering" on road and a bit of wheel spin on rocks off road, but nothing drastic. Been using them a year now and i'd be lucky to have lost 2mm of tread on the rear!

Yeah I daily on these things. They have very soft side walls, and in that respect suit the light weight of the Suzuki really well. They do noticeably wear on my Sierra, but still not much; Ive done about 15,000km on mine so far, and going by that would get about 100,000km+ assuming they were not destroyed before hand. (My father would get more km out of his Kuhmo ATs, but after 7 years on a Sierra the rubber is going too hard).

This gets me to my biggest hate about them: I actually run 3x 2nd hand ones, and a 1 new (15,000km old) one. they were all fine when I put them on the car, and have 4wded them a little bit (barely at all for the last 4 or 5 months). Yet they get holes in them, one tyre has 3 pin holes in the tread which leak about 3psi a week. And if you do take them bush, go near rocks and they chip, go near good mud and the clog up to slicks.

They are a cheap tyre, and you get what you pay for. They will out-do any "All-Terrain", but for the noise and loss of fuel economy I want something better. I'm going to replace these tyres about mid-year, yes they have more life in them, but I want 4 evenly worn tyres, and ones that don't leak; My first preference is not available yet (next week or so apparantly ), my second preference is Goodyear MTRs, my third preference being Mickey MTZs.

if it comes down to the STT and the Trepadore i think it will be a tough choice as ive had the Treps before and was impressed i found it had a soft rubber compound, road noise wasnt to bad, steer'd well and performed great offroad - rocks/creek/slippery & thick mud ect it performed really good in the mud i found anyway - and i paid $260/tyre fitted but that was a year ago...

depends on wat the prices are now guess..if the Trepadore is cheaper than the STT i will definitly take the Treps again otherwise i'll have to wait and see about the simex ET's

No problem, Im putting off doing something .
ETs will likely be expensive, and allot more rugged onroad. IMO not ideal for daily driving, though some people have a high tolerance level.

Like I said the ET's are in a different class to radial treps and cooper stt's, I doub't you'd get them cheaper than radials. Your better off comparing ET's to silverstone extremes, super swampers, competition bias treps and creepies (which you can't get in 31") and bias ply mickey thompsons (which you also can't get in 31" afaik).

i would go the Trepadore they wouldnt be anywhere near the price of the stt i got 5 x 31 on new rims for $1540.
they are such a good tire the only prob i think they would wear a lot faster then the others because they are so soft.
they grip on to every thing so good
they only start in bias ply from 37"

i'm seriously going to drop a case of beer down to the guy who supplied me my trepadors.

you guys are getting arse raped on the prices you are throwing around. Compared to what i paid. And i had never met the guy before.

I'd go trepadors again for sure, i'm very happy with the price (obviously) and i've never had a bead roll off or a puncture and i run them at 10psi most of the time and if its really rough i'll go down 5 or 3psi.

you know how much your last set of trepadors where, go back to them as a repeat customer, see if they can help you out some more.

Yep Me too and they are cheap I couldn't see a Trepadore in a 31 being more expensive than Stt's or Simex's no way!

what are some prices that people are getting quoted for the trepadores because i got quoted $300 a tyre for a 235/75/15, said F@#^ that and didnt look any further into it because of this price. I am now in the market for a set of 31's and would like a cheap, decent mud terrain. I like the look of the treps but i couldnt justify over $300 a tyre when more aggressive treads can be had for a cheaper price

i run 31" trepadors they are grippy as, used to run 35" treps on the old 4runner and yeah get good kms outta them and they grip like nothing else and there cheap!

i bought them from a jax quickfit here in newcastle, i had never met the guy before. Just rang him, struck up a conversation and told him what i wanted and asked what he could offer. He rang me back the next day and offered me the treps.
i also had motorway mongrells offered at 160 a tyre from another mob, but i wasnt sure on how i would go driving on the road with them so i went with the treps.

well tyre prices have gone up but sure not over 50%... anyone bought trepadors lately? on the back of 4wd Custom Action Hobzee's has them advertised as "from $228" with the smallest size being the 30x9.5R15, but on hobzee's site they are $305 a tyre???? I would pay the $228 and think i was getting a good deal but $305???
