Disco 2 Air Suspension on the front

Disco 2 Air Suspension on the front
I was wondering and researching but have not found any solution.
Can you modify/fit air suspension (either rangie or some aftermarket kit) to a disco 2 front end? Specifically the airbag, I'm not concerned about the leveling system.

Yes and no.
The big prob is that the shock runs through the middle of the coil.
This said, I'm sure a fellow call IanG on D2Au has worked out how to do it, but has not done it yet. Obviously the shocks were relocated.

airbagman? www.airbagman.com.au
I'd be surprised if he couldn't sort you out. I know people have put D2 coils all around a P38 so that's a start at least. I believe it's more or less bolt-on in that direction.

There are a coulpe more in there somewhere...POIDA wrote:Is there a post on D2AU about it? If there is I couldn't find it.
Obviously it too hard to do comercially because no one sells suitable kits.
But I have noticed some vendors seem to have coil-over type setups. That makes me wonder ...

Yeah the first place I started looking was Airbag man (I haven't contacted them) but found they don't have a front airbag solution on their website.
I also searched a number of other vendors and none have a solution off the shelf. I searched this and other forums and found no information of anyone doing or trying this. So I thought I'd pose the question. I like the concept of lift on demand that the rangie has and would like to replicate that in the Disco. I already have the rear bags so was thinking of duplicating the slabs to the front. (either hacking a second factory system in or using an aftermarket one)

Actually, the other man that has looked right into this was Tusker on AULRO. He came very close to doing this to his defender. The front ends between the Def and D2 are not the same, but very similar. He is already running a shock tower that has an additional shock forward of the factory shock, but there are clearance issues in a D2 for the same location. He was going through somebody in Waitara Sydney that specialises in this type of thing.
Also, there are aftermarket controllers etc that you can use for a part or full control. Wooders on here I'm pretty sure imports these through his business called Wooders Garage in Hornsby, Sydney.

What about these, I'm wondering if they have enough travel or could be made with enough?

I have a set of Gen III air springs for a P38 RR on a shelf next to me at the moment, front and rear. These are not the OEM springs, they are the Arnotts ones with more travel. My back is currently too crook to attempt the installation.
To my naked eye, they don't really look any more bulky than a coil spring (and incidentally they are really light.)
If you want me to measure anything let me know.
