td42 oil pressure

Post by fatsogq »

gday ive got a 94 4.2d rx does anybody know if oil pressure fluctuation is normal on these motors? somedays it sits just below the 4 on the gauge other days below the 1st marker on the guage,it runs fine doesnt use oil or blow smoke,275k s on the clock, was thinking it might be the oil pressure switch, i take it the switch is next to the two oil filters it has wires going into it? thanks guys

M8, the standard gauge is a joke. I've got a VDO gauge on mine and it shows 7 bar cold, 5 bar hot at revs and 2 bar idling. Meanwhile the standard gauge shows 2bar, no, 1 bar, no, 3 bar, no, 2 bar, no .5 bar.

I ignore the standard gauge. Do yourself a favour and get an aftermarket gauge.

BTW I've got 365000 on my engine...
