G16b efi (in sierra) high idle

Post by dad »

Hey blokes,
I've had a g16b efi vitara donk in the zook for about a month now,
when installed and wired up, idle set just below 1000rpm when warm, but i noticed last trip that it was idling at 2500rpm.

Ive checked that the accelerator cable isn't jammed and has a bit of play at the throttle body.

I turned the idle down via an adjustment screw i was shown on the throttle body (or inlet manifold, im not sure off the top of my head).

The lowest idle i can get is 2000 rpm, which doesn't bother me so much, as its not DD, but im beginning to worry that it might be on limp mode?

Any pointers?
cheers, nic

i ask because sometimes when the ecu is in limp mode it will give the engine a higher rpm.

So i checked for any vacuum leaks on the weekend with a can of carby cleaner, didnt seem to have any.

Had a play with air flow meter, o2 sensor, etc, to see if any plugs had come loose, but all seemed ok.

Took the car out for a play, 100m into the track, idle dropped back to where it supposed to be.

I dont know what caused the problem, dont know what fixed it. I guess what i dont know cant hurt me...

I wonder if your IAC valve had a clog. That might jam what passes for a choke in a g16b on and cause a high idle until the blockage was disloged.

If it does it agian you could try pulling the IAC valve of and give it a clean and flush the cooling system.

Or just put some flora pro-active in your radiator, hey if it works on blockages in people...

Also its a long shot but if you take your TPS off and check its clean, adjusted and performing correctly.
