I have used conveyor belt rubber. There was a dealer in Epping (Melbourne) - I know not close to you - but check the phone book. They had various thicknesses and cheap 'end of rolls'.
It's great stuff for making vibration mounts for compressors etc coz it's canvas reinforced.

I just put some on the back of my 100 series. I went to clark rubber and got some 6mm x 300 mm wide insertion rubber of the roll by the metre. 300 is the widest they have. It's about $42.00 a metre but it works well, the mudflaps that I put on the 60 series are still fine after 10 years.

You must have had a crappy Clarke rubber, as I've bought large pieces of rubber for my mud flaps. Pretty sure the belt was around 1200mm wide
this was at Brownsplains Clarke Rubber

A lot of wrangler owners have made up some brackets and bolted them to the chassis to make some quick release mudflaps for when doing more serious stuff to prevent them being damaged. Just pull the pin and throw them in the back until you're back on the blacktop. You can buy the kits if you don't wanna make them.

This is what I use, you can have it made to just about any size & thickness and cut it down to suit.me3@neuralfibre.com wrote:We trashed the insertion rubber on the race car - didn't last. It tears despite the canvas.
Polyurethane is the stuff if you want something unkillable. It's more expensive, and stiffer.
