A good compropmise is 2" each...keeps weight low, allows larger tyres due to body 2 inches away from bumpstops....keeps suspension within limits of just springs and shocks....commonly available and comfortable to ride/drive. however a 4 inch spring shock and adjustable panhards are easier to do...alot easier....

handy topic, was going to ask something like this myself.

just purchased myself a 80 series and was going to do a 3 inch lift, due to friend of mine reccomended it. needs engineers in NSW tho, so thinkin about 2 inch, due to the fact its just pretty much shocks and springs, no other mods at all...... and no engineers....

2+2 is a really good idea. keeps steering within spec, no need for panhards / shocks and can run upto 36" tyres

so thats 2 inch suspension witha 2 inch body? i think im gunna try the 2 inch suspension and see what fits, will a 2 inch suspension allow 33's to fit underneath, was thinking of getting myself a set of 15" sunraisers or smoething and get 33s, so i can keep my road tyres

body lifts are quite an effort on an 80, if you want to go 3 or 4" it is A LOT easier just to get that height increase via suspension rather than body
