i did have it tuned recently it does not have a intercooler and i am looking to get one any recommmedation on a brand and will it get more powerYB.LOW4 wrote:sounds like it need to be tuned properly. I have the same set up minus the 4.3's and mine goes a treat> thats since its been tuned at diesel tec.
Factory turbo? - upgrade turbo, 3" mandrel bent exhaust, K&N air filter, snorkel, intercooler (I prefer a liquid to air with decent transfer pump) & re-tune. Should get between 125 and 135 HP at the rear wheels with 35s and 4.3s depending on condition of pump & injectors. Tappets should be adjusted correctly too.
Once you've done the above, if you need more HP, then either GAS it or have the pump modified & fit high flow injectors. You should get around 160 HP on gas with good AFRs and EGTs - with-out modifying the pump or injectors. You'll get around 160 HP with modified pump & hi-flow injectors & tuned properly. Add gas and you should see close to 200 HP - properly set up.
Otherwise - what Hoonz said -

Re: how do i get more power out of gu 01 ute
with that setup you should have anywhere from 95kw to about 100kw, lets see if you have that first..bobbyjane wrote:i own a 2001 gu ute with 4' suspension and 2' body lift i have 35' tires and it is a bit of a pig it has a 3' exhaust 4.3 diff ratios and runs about 11 psi boost looking for some ideas to gain more power
if not then you can look at the tune, injectors...
However the next step would be to a larger turbo which will give u about 130kw max, with a standard pump...
then if your not happy just prepared to lash out some coin, on bigger pump, larger cooler and what not..
