I don't think the chinese ones are that bad, even if they don't last as long they are good value for money.
I got an LED headlight as a bonus, when I bought a bulk pack of oil filters and it has been great for over 2 years. It gets used out bush, when I am cooking and even gets used at home, great for working on the computer.
Lion make a few different ones, one like the versalite, 60led for $69 and a compact 15led light for $59.
Other than that, the pirhna fluro is the same, made by burnbrite for pirahna, not sure on price tho.
I once saw a Piranha one for $99.95. Didn't buy it at the time because I wasn't going camping anytime soon. Went to get one before camping and they were $149.95. Not seen them cheaper since
Now I know they're the same I can keep an eye out for these puppies

the 92 LED Versalites are $160 now. :(
no "SHOW SPECIALS" at the caravan show either... normal retail at best with "SPECIAL PRICE TODAY ONLY" stuck on it. one shop left their normal price tags on their LED's that was less than show special!!!!
EDIT: just found a place that does the Versalites for $110 "wholesale price" in Knoxfield..
I get the Versalite fluro and LED from a local retailer at something close to wholesale prices for a local 4wd club. Outer users can have them for the same price plus freight.... so 12v fluro @$94.00 and 12v LED @$130.00
I will weigh one in the morning and then we can work out the postage...

So would these be legit with full warranty etc? And if yes how would one go about getting one fixed under warranty if need be? I could be very keen if postage isn't a killer.

A real tax invoice will be issued with each sale. Any Versalite reseller should be able to support the warranty, but a call to the distributor as per above links (Soterion, they are 4wd users too!) and they will sort it out.
re postage. Use the Australia Post calculator. The sending postcode is 2600, and the Fluro versalite weighs about 900g, should still be under 1kg when wrapped for postage.

Well I'm pretty much sold. But to be sure, we are talking about this one yeah?
Parcel will be posted from 2600, allow 1kg for wrapped light to calculate estimated postage.
I can send a PayPal invoice or give you banking details for eft.
Not wanting to upset the apple cart, but you may want to check which models you have priced their, there is some conflict with the prices previously suggested

Very good prices none the less
haha I just picked that up. Prices are wrong way round I was still looking at LED for previously mentioned price anyways so no biggie for me.

Just received the LED Versa-lites and they certainly put out heaps of light. Will be bush camping this weekend, so will be able to directly compare with my old Fluro Versa-lite.
Those listers who sent me a PM re supply etc, expect a message this afternoon re payment etc.
Had a chance to compare LED lights over the weekend. The Versalite LED certainly puts out plenty of light, and with a good spread as they have arranged the LEDs on an arc. Compared to an ARB LED, more light and more spread. Compared to a Versalite Fluro ... very close, just uses less power and does not attract the bugs.
Thanks to listers who bought lights, makes our club purchase look bigger.

Sweet. When mine arrives ill post up my thoughts. For me ill be using it to work on the car a lot so a good light spread will be brilliant.

Well got mine and used it a couple of times now and I reckon its sweet. Just don't look directly at it or you'll get sun spots in your eyes and wont be able to see
Pumps out heaps of light. Makes life easy when working on stuff at night. The only tricky thing is mounting it so that its putting light where you want it to without having to hold it. I think for camping I'm going to need some sort of bracket to hang it off if I want to use it to set up a tent or something. Or I'll take the missus...
The magnet holder shown on the back of the packet looks pretty handy too so I might try and track one of those down as well.
