Hey Kent. I don't think my patrol is the only truck in the field to pass a roadworthy. Just put the sway bars back on and change the tyres. Josh and I still have max fun every time we race. We thank Dave for keeping the sport affordable. I have looked at alot of motorsport and yes, money nearly always wins. I'm hoping this event isn't the same.

Purk don't give up mate money doesn't always get the win and i think even though some go out to win at all cost most of the field go just to compete and have fun. Look at the farm truck 30 odd yrs old and only minor mods (still leaf sprung) and it does just fine. Beside you guys do well. In my opion and just mine, i think it comes down to getting to know your truck, leaving it alone and getting the right team.

thats what i said about russ's truck, it wasnt heavily modded and won, i agree you dont need to have the biggest baddest thing to do well but some people want to keep developing their truck, that is why im saying start a new class, so if you dont wanna keep stepping it up you dont have to.
the dearest part on my whole car is the winch, everything other than that is fabbed by us so not near as much money as a lot of people think,

i pretty much go out there with the intension of trying to win every time, i do the sport cause i love driving but yea i wanna win, doesnt everyone, i think everyone who races has fun and loves the sport and some are content with just competing, not me i wanna beat jacko every time ha ha, no better feeling than a 1st place i think,

After he competed once (only Team that has run it) there were talks between myself and other organisers and it was decided that full hydro steer in the future would not be allowed. So yes it was canned before anyone else did it.

And as he was the only one that had asked and had sort approval which he obtained from me for the Xtreme Events, I gave him my approval to keep running it if he wanted to.

So one only has to ask and seek approval if they are pushing the rules, you might not get it, but it is well worth the phone call.

I forget to add, if you want to race buggies go for it. This could be a good event for another event organiser.

this could become interesting when the DOT park before an event and fine all the comp trucks for been illeagal on the back of trailers. I don't see how you feel that CTP is going to cover a vehicle which is illigal and un roadworthy in a competion event held by you ??? I don't belive that LCMP is classed as private property as it is used to stage events. I don't have the $$$ to enter your comp but I love watching.

hey dave im hopeing to build me new truck really close to the real thing so you dont get up set, just chasing the engineers number that did your car, i wanna get mine fully road legal like yours is :), but i cant find a engineer that will pass a car with out a safety stamp on the glass and i coulnt see one on your perspex or lexen back window, i just wanna check up for you thats all:):) if you want me to have a better look over your car i can, i had a quick one on the weekend and noted a few little things,
i didnt get a chance to catch you before i left ha ha

i would hate for your car to be unroadworthy or unsafe, cause when your on the road its DOT's sand pit and they might not like your rules.

Metcalf's Series Metcalf rules! I bet he puts a HUGE amount of time and effort in therefor he gets to choose the way it is run! If anyone wants to change the rules or the way it is run, sure, IN YOUR OWN SERIES! The way Metcalf runs the series IMO is very fair and makes for better competition, better driving and better team work! The way the rules are now dont always let Mr. Dollar$ win as it is restricted.

dave you didnt even know your own rules, at first you tld me it was cause its not road legal, then cause its pump fuel only then you even told me you had a rule that no engine boosters were allowed......go figure that, then you finally found one that said no nitrous but had absolutely no idea why,
you wanna enforce rules you have no idea about, yoou say its unsafe but you tried telling me its not a pump fuel, you have no idea at all about it,

if it was a problem you should have picked it up in scruteneering, but no like everyone there my car didnt even get checked for a first aid kit or fire extingisher, so dont try preach this its not safe bull sh*t cause if you wanna run a safe event it cant be when it suits you, i raced with it friday night

i rolled my car, by the time someone arived with a first aid kit we were both out of the car with helmets off and walking around the track, probably close to 2 mins, then my car was pulled off the track and left there, after the stage finished you told everyone to leave, 2 competitor cars(skip and jacko) recovered my car, well organised?????

i give respect where i believe its deserved, you preach about roadworthy cars and yours isnt, and you preach about running a safe event and my car has NEVER been checked for safety equipment at one of your events. i dont believe any car gets checked

We do have a look at vehicles.

Again you must read your rules. Because on the first or second page it states that it is YOUR RESPONSORBILITY to comply with these rules.


And yes it was YOU that did not want to listen when asked to remove the NOS. And you were still going on after I had to show the rules stating that.

There isn't a single comp truck roadworthy in any winch series in QLD I have asked Dave a number of times here but no reply. Can't wait to see how the new class takes off with the so called cheaper racing.

Why do you insist on bitching about this topic on a open forum?Do you like this type of event? If you keep carting on pointing out the pitfalls of xwc we might just end up without a comp up here at all.Like or dislike how dave runs his events at least it is a comp that anyone can compete at.Next comps will be invite only and the only people that will be invited will be the ones who can vent thair probs face to face.Don`t take this the wrong way but somethings should be said in public and some things should not.I think you might just be pissed you cant squirt your gas in the air any more.

Kent does make some valid points, but i dont think this is the right way to go about it... But at the end of the day its metcalfs event and he has to do what he believes is right by his event... Thats Motorsport and he with the biggest budget will usually come out of top, regardless of the rules and regulations and if you dont like it take up volleyball...

i did say it all to his face, and in public, all i got was a reply say its not safe, cause i said, mate everyone pays to enter this event he isnt doing it for free,

so when i got a useless reply from him face to face i came on here, i not going to just let it go,

gas isnt the only reason im pissed, its all the bull shit about safety and the real deal, and inconsistant rules, gas isnt flamable,(it only supports a flame) its only engauged off full throttle and the bottles are mounted securely???????

oh yea i purge the gas so that the coldest nitrous it right at the solanoid so when the switch gets triggered the hit is instant, you wouldnt have learnt that off fast and furious

Hi Kent, yes I did ask you to remove NOS as it is not allowed in any XWC Event.

But it appears that you had not read the rules and started making comments.

So I went and obtained the rule book to show you where it stated that NOS was not allowed to be used in the Rule Book.

Low & behold there it was!

5C. Fuel Systems (XO - NA)
Pump fuel only.
No boost additives allowed.
Fuel tank to stay in original position, but may be raised.
LPG is allowed to be fitted to petrol motors.
Diesel Injector Pump as per year of build in Australian Model Range.
No Nitrous Gas allowed in any Class
The Competition Manager reserves the right to reject any fuel tank that is deemed to be unsafe.

That you did not like, as it did not go your way.

I then made phone calls to a CCDA representitive regards your comments that it was allowed elsewhere, (As I am not part of CCDA the only rules that have to be followed are the XWC ones) I was informed by them that it was not allowed to be used at any CCDA affiliated event.

That phone call was only made to clear up any comments made regards events, even tho other events have no bearing on XWC Rules & Guidelines.

End of the NOS story.

All I can say is follow the Rules and if in doubt give me a call.

Just a quick one for all CQ & NQ Teams, I have no intention to change XWC or EFS XI away from CQ. You guys are great up there.

And if I did do an invitation event you would still be on my invite list Kent, as you try to really please the crowd.

Like Billy said Kent probably not a good place for a sluging match here regardless if you are right or wrong but like the rules state no nos, All allowing nos would do is make everyone use it and make the playing field even on mods again with more dollars again...
All other compeditors need to follow the rules by the book or they get read the rules by Dave also not just you. If you think you can bend them you need to contact Dave BEFORE the event and see what his input is saves a shitfight like this.
Dave does take on input about the event but it would be hard on the day when so much is going on, like you i believe competitor and spectator saftey should be high on the list on youtube there is a video at rocky 09 on friday night and you hear dave telling spectators to get off the track on one ss about 20 times, more needs to be done there so the law does not try and make an example of a competitor if a accident happens ,plenty of comps have this problem or having a problem with spectators because some times they just stand in dumb places.

and yes dave i did remove it straight away, my arguement was why it was unsafe, because its not, but it seems my arguement is going no where,
i love getting the crowd going cause it gets everyone going, and i loved/love winch challenges,
i already have a new patrol, well under way with cage, coilovers and tripple bi's but like i told you, i dont think you will see me at one of your events again, i going class 8 racing,

oh yea just for everyones knowlage me whole gas system costs just over $500, compare that to the stroker motor i have built which will probably be the same power as my 304 on the bottle

Dear All

Just for the record the CCDA does not allow NOS to be run in any of our event and I support Dave in his actions. I understand we are not sactioning the event but we are all part of the same sport and will all suffer together.
CAMS will not allow it and to my understanding the drags are the only motor sport in OZ that will and they have very strick rules arround it. Storage and saftey and the transportation of the bottles.
