Cut down 80# Landcruiser

Hi Folks
I would like to cut down an 80# and change it into a tray back or table top as Ibelieve you call them, I would welcome any info as to the best of my knowledge it will be the first in New Zealand
I intend to use this truck for winch challenges

dual cab or single cab? get a big grinder or a sabre saw. then youll need a welder.

No help with the question but did you know the 80 series have been known to have trouble with the p/steering box if abused ?

Don't mean to be a downer but just good to know these things if serious work is intended.

also if you intend to do whinch challange events i don't think you can cut it down to a tray and be alowed to enter but as a ute it is ok as it is less than 25 percent side view altered in body work happy to be corrected if i am wrong .

I done one and it was 10 times the job i thought it would be.
I also repowered with a big block chev, five link front (custom front diff) and style side seperate ute tub.

Got any pics? Was it harder cause you used a styleside set up instead of just a normal tray?

Sounds like a beast and I think I know what truck this is but PICS rule this forum!!!!!! :D

Jeff Schneider here in Brisbane competes in the winch challenge series in an 80 ute, cut down to a single cab and tray back (not styleside). Looks strangely like a GU, only the twin headlights give it away at first glance. I'm sorry I can't help you with a detailed pic, it's the only one I have in the archive.

Does Jeff still run that 383 on gas? What made him cut it into a ute?
