if you are going to go that route then investigate the CCDA and their requirements for them in regards to comps. No point putting one in and then deciding to compete in the future and finding its not compatible. Then go and speak with Cheezy/fatman. It wont be cheap probably heading up to the $2000 mark but then you want quality in a rol cage

As we progress from the ancient times, here in WA we will all eventualy need roll cages in our vehicals to compete in competitions. This might not happing tomorow but it will happin, especialy if we are to ever run a real competition wich is timed.

So here are the possible building requirement for a roll cage, Becuase its not as simple as just bending up some pipe in ur backyard made out of anything, It must comply to a standard.

There are two main standards in Australia C.A.M.S and C.C.D.A
Both are wich are very similar. CAMS is usaly used for race events like, rally driving, V8 super cars, Offroad racing. Where as C.C.D.A is usaly used for events like, Outback challenge, tough trucks, extreme winch challenge, woodpecker and alike. Now CAMS cages are acceptable in a C.C.D.A event i.e they are deamed to be superior, but C.C.D.A cages to my knowlege cant be used in CAMS events.

Both a C.C.D.A cage and C.A.M.S cage are log booked and stamped and have to be scruterneered before reciving such names. The standard CCDA cage is the standard CAMS cage but dependant on what log book it has will determin weather it is a CAMS cage or a CCDA cage.

The one piece 6 Point Roll Cage is the same as the C.A.M.S cage.
You can use the CAMS specs in conjunction it CCDA or just one of either up to you.

Now as you will see all roll cages require specified matirial, now before anyone argues you can use other matiral and you can make ur cage different form the design but be pre-pared to pay for engineering desings and stress tests and the rest and also have all relivant documentation on the compisite make up of the matirial you decide to use. It is much easyer to stick to the design they set out and use the matiral they specify.

In summary the roll cages will need to be constructed out of CDS 'Cold drawn Steel' tube and will need to meet the minimun requirements for sizing and thicknesses. Also base plate will be needed too.

Anyone know if you can make the backstays removable? or if the cage can be extended to the c pillar and run down the c pillar as a backstay?

i am pretty sure, the stays have a certain angle they have to be for strength and protection, if you run them down another pillar like at the b and a pillar, they basicaly become another hoop.

i am pritty sure they can be removable, just need to have a bush and high tensile bolts in it, best way to find out is to ask some one who builds and apparoves them

speak to sandy, brown davis, flamen fabs, unlimited just to name a few
