Gday i recently had two H4 inserts smash inside the headlight shell. So it seems like a good time to go to HID.
I have been looking at the X Ray Vision HID conversion kits to convert H4 systems to HID. They are a HID high/low that uses a solenoid to adjust the beam from high to low.
Interested in hearing from anyone who runs these or knows a bit about them.
What is gained by going to the 'Heavy Duty' H4 kit which i assume is much more expensive (dont have price on it).
The standard kit seems to be around the $470 mark everywhere ive seen it... any better prices???

we use to sell the xray but found the a bit dear we do the all most the same kit for about $260 up and we offer them in 35w and 55w
we have been testing these for about 12 month now and all are good we have these with a slimline ballast as well as big ballast but if you need lots of light you use this kit
i can build up a kit that give you 55w on low and 110w on high

is that all our xr6t has per side 270 of hid on high that is a totol of 540w now that is cool and that is with no extra lights. but seriously we probably sell more after market hid's than most others in Australia because it is all we sell, and mostly to the 4wd and ralley market, it does run a solenoid to switch from hi - lo and we haven't had any problems as yet, we have one running in the outback challenge at the moment so we'll let you know how it fares.

But there is no way that you could get away with a 55/110w kit on the road? I almost ran over another walker tonight with the crap GU lights not showing up the man all in black. A HID kit is going up the list, but I expect this kit would draw way to much unwanted attention?

what kit would you recommend for on road use so as to get good light without undue attention?
Seriosly now though, if you want the best practical kit for on road, the dual filament 35w low 70w high is tops. You are keeping your low beam on 35w which is acceptable but you get plenty of light on high beam, which is free anyway. But it is not cheap. The mechanical 35w kit is the best value for money we have available.Please give me if i can help

I have had 35w Hi-low in my GQ tray back for over a year now and still have not attracted any unwated attaintion, that was even after using all six of my lightforce lights witch are also HID (55w each) to spot to cops hiding behind a power pole with speed gun, thay pull me over and asked why why my lights were so bright, I explaned about hid and the rest, i don't think thay had anything else to do....

I got to say 440w or 540w of HID is unreal. I have 140w of high beam HID and thats unreal 1.3k's of spot and light out at approx 50' to 450m,
no problem with vision untill I switch to (normal) 200w halogen low beam (bit dull). I got to say I think single globe hid is great but am still not conviced on any type of low/high solaniod HID.
Being I had a set of low/high HID and nothing but drama. (first they sent a LHD kit then the globe died so gave it the punt back to relayed high watt halogen.
