1UZ-FE into Sierra
I am currently thinking about this conversion for the sierra. Motor is the 1UZFE 4lt V8 out of Lexus Soarer. I can pick on of these up real cheap with tranny, and was thinking that it should fit between the chassis rails pretty easy. My only concern is the length of the transmission and the compounding rear tailshaft angle. This project would be intended to be road legal, so it would nessatate the use of hilux diffs for strength and extra braking power. What other factors should i be looking at before buying the motor, and sourcing a chassis to begin work?

Road legal = engineered... I'd suggest speaking to one before starting this project - sounds like a lot of work, and also sounds like there will be lots of things to consider.

Talk to NAM about the legalities of getting a V8 into a Suzuki. He has a Range Rover now.
That is alot of engine to try and fit into a small package, overkill to say the least. What possible legitimate reason could you have for trying to put a V8 into a Zuk? Yes it would be cool blah blah blah. If you want a v8 powered car buy something like a hilux (you are going to use the diffs anyway) Patrol etc and save yourself the headache and $$$ you will waste when you can't get it engineered

They are absolutely bulletproof engines with heaps of potential. I think your going to find it extremely hard to convince an engineer to sign off on it but good luck all the same.
While sitting here these are a few things that come to mind.
Its probably going to take a lot more than some custom engine mounts to get it in there.
A good body lift might be on the cards to get some head room under the bonnet and room for the exhaust manifolds below.
Length wise, it might be a good idea to get the measuring tape out before searching for a donor vehicle. LWB may be needed and you might have to widen the tunnel to fit the gearbox in. May also need extra strengthening of the chassis at it was never designed to take the torque load.
Legally you will probably also have to upgrade brakes and suspension.
Clutch will have to be made hydraulic.
Getting a nice big radiator in the front may be a hasstle as their aint all that much room up front.
Sump clearance? Maybe custom sump to clear everything?
And simply all that extra weight up front could be troublesome.

sounds nice but many issues. I had an SR20 which I was planning to put into a zuk. if I had the time and money I would have put it in.

my thought is GO FOR IT. If io had the money and wife would let me spend it id try to put a rover 3.5V8 in a zook. Thes kinda mods can be done but its an issue of $$$. Hey if ya can put a 351 in a mk1 escort then a V8 in a sierra must be do'able. zooks are a stronger car and have a simple design thats easy to modify.

Did you follow Nams attempt to do this. it is not possible to legally put a V8 into a Sierra in Victoria, and I'd guess anywhere in Australia

Word. 1UZ is how V8's should be. Quad cam, 6 bolt mains etc etc. Brilliant motor. Only thing missing is forced induction. i agree about 'how they should be built'
i have had that argument with v8 owners in the past (talking about new v8 owners, classic v8s are classics but only if they stay in classics)
i am not sure about the need for forced inductioln though, if i am doubling my cylinders than its be trading boost for simplicity but maintaing same power

This 1UZ is being built for comps (TTC etc) so extra power is always good. I agree with you regarding keeping it reliabile if you going to street it or use it regually, although If you can add forced induction and keep it reliable, then why notSantos wrote:i agree about 'how they should be built'

this a tojo 8 sitting a rocky that i have in my shed. the rocky engine bay is a LOT bigget that a sierra version, so its gonna be a damn tight fit. and engineering it in a sierra in todays climate is going to be very difficult and i doubt someone will want to put thier name to it.
having said that i did see a nice job done on a vehicle in thailand (sierra swb), dana diffs etc. was very very tight, and not sure how practicall it was, but the job was very nice. it even ran the lexus auto.

350rwkw with stock gear ? Most lux's using this motor are lucky to see 200 rwhp. I think this conversion is worse than a 308/253 combo in a hilux having driven both, but would be ok in a sierra because of the weight and the torqueless nature of the toyota motor wouldnt really matter.
The 1uz may be a more technologically advanced motor but compared to an LS1 it gets pooped on. Would still be good in a zuk tho
