Soft brakes and Loosing brake fluid
Soft brakes and Loosing brake fluid
My brakes on my 88 GQ SWB patrol with 3" lift and 33s have become real soft latelly and ive been loosing breake fluid but i cant find where the fluid is leaking?
Any idea on what the problem could be and where is the best place to start fixing the problem.

Its not cool, unless it's got boost :)
If there are no obvious leaks,
Clamp rubber hoses's at diff. Now push brake pedal.
1/ if soft, undo master(no need to crack lines) and move it out
far enough to check if the rear seal is leaking. It should be.(new master needed)
2/ If hard, release font hose clamp and try again.
if soft you can isolate wich caliper by clamping the hose's on the caliper.
if its hard, repeat # 2 on the rear.
fluids/coolant just dont disappear, they must go sumwhere.
Hope this helps
Cheers Ian.

GQ LWB TD42 Turbo,(ps.water does not compress.)
Yea, always a good idea to bleed brakes when vehical is on the ground position(no axles hanging in the air)on axle stands is ok.NutterGQ wrote:does the car have body lift? and dont forget to check proportioning valve
sometimes the prop valve give a ????? during bleeding.
Cheers Ian.

if its "useing" fluid and he is needing to top it up its got nothing to do with proportioning valve unless the valve is leaking.
Mark just undo the 2 bolts that hold the master to the booster, bend it out a little and have a look. if its wet its the master. Thats as long as you have already looked around for a fluid leak at the calipers/lines/hoses
