hi, I have a brand new set of 30" bfg m/t's, what are people using them for road/mud/sand?

Tyre place put 40psi in them, but Im thinking around 32psi is a better starting point for road?

I run 31" baja claws at 22, seems to be a good wear pressure as well as a good ride, much more and its far too stiff.

On sand, 5-7psi.
If it breaks, excellent, time for an upgrade

i was told years ago to drop 2 psi for each increase in tyre size im running 30 inch bfg km2 on me lwb vitara at 26 psi and it rides just right for me anyways

I run 22psi on my Sierra on road as a guide.
Maybe 24 - 26psi to allow for the extra weight.
Try various pressures and see what suits you, 32psi
would be too much imo

got my pressures down to 26psi last night until i got my my last tyre... found out that the valve is faulty, not holding any air and have to get it replaced.. grrrr

anyways Ill let you know how I go with 26psi

they always put in 40 :roll:
30 max maybe 25 maybe 22. like everyone says try and feel the ride and look phisically at the bulge. then decide what u think. what everyone is saying here is what they might use but doesnt means its the best for them or u. ive been told things on here(mainly general section) that is so far from what is ideal.

i have a 94 2door vit with 31's..
if i run 40psi goes great. a bit bumpy, saves fuel corners great, light steering...

running 25psi chews fuel and harder steering.. and seems to give me more body roll round corners...

i run 8psi off road on rock/dirt

HOLY CRAP 40PSI?!?!?! I don't think the tyre is even supposed to be that far inflated. If you look on the tyre placard on the inside of the door jam, it recommends something like 25psi for the stock tyres. I run around 25 with my 32" BFG muddies. Any higher and I think i'd need a kidney belt.

Haha, the so-called tyre experts always seem to fit 'em and do the 40psi thing. 22-26 in a Sierra should be about right.

I think them pump them up to 40 to seat the bead properly.

Anyway, constantly running 40 on road in a light car will make the centre of the tyre wear out much quicker than the outer edges.

they have a max 50psi...

not that that bad on the road to need a kidney belt..

they seem to be wearing quite evenly, had em on there for quite a while...

Fuk me, have you never heard of nematic suspension.

Just because it says, MAX, does not mean a tiny light car runs that, even close.

I run 35 psi on my extreme trekker pedes but only to keep the outer lugs off the road to prevent wear. I don't notice much different in ride though until I get to about 20psi or less, but these are not normal radial tyres.

problem with less tyre pressure and standard diff ratio's and 31's it goes like a dog and really struggles up hills, chews fuel and hard steering

I can drive my Baja Claws at 5psi, with new finger, you must be extremely strength challenged.

Fair go, its a bloody car a man can lift up the front of.
