Storing An Engine

I have a G16b that I may need to store for a while and was wondering if there is any tips for storing an engine for an extended period, (several months), beyond making sure it is covered and kept dry.

consider removing the cam to keep the valves closed... or just properly block off all the holes. PROPERLY not tape or some rags if there is any chance itll get wet.

although, it is only a few months so just inside a shed with a good spray of lano or wd40 should be plenty.
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown

For months, just rags in the ports/tape over the ports and a quick WD-40 style oil. Remove the clutch and spray the flywheel, will need to be degreaser cleaned before re-install.

If you are storing for years, I would squirt oil in the plug holes and spin it over on the stater motor and thats all. Plug up the ports as per normal.

I had to store a 351 for 12 years.... I did a compression test before hand and it was 150psi on all 8...
I ran it at 2000 rpm and poured oil into carb until it stalled, then removed from car and plugged every orifice....
Started it 3 months ago and still has 150 psi on all cylinders :D :armsup:

Yep, agreed, get oil into the pots, pour some down the throat while it is running.

fogging oil is designed specifically for winterising/storing engines.

you can get it from boat/outboard type shops. spray into carby whilst engine is running. also spray into oil filler/rocker cover.

if it's really only a few months you probably don't need to do anything.
