Rear suspension on RRC sqweeking.

Does anyone know how to stop the annoying sqweeking noise coming from the rear suspension of the RRC ?? it's been bugging me something fierce ? sounds like a toddler walking aroud with those sqeeky shoes? :lol:

If it has a swaybar with balljoints in it they can squeak when they get a bit worn, sometimes you can shut it up by pulling the rubber boot back a bit and spraying Inox/WD40 in there. Poly urethane bushes (if you have them) can squeak too, my panhard rod bushes do it quite badly when the front suspension is working hard. Otherwise look for worn rubber bushes in the trailing arms, or shocker rubbers.

Ranging Rover , the sway bars have been removed on my 93 , I think it's coming from the serviceable A-frame Ball joint area somewhere, not sure :?

PhilpA I think you may be right . I'll have a look at it during the day time this week, I've been trying to service my brake calipers.

Hi I have had the same prob I fittied a new adjustable ball joint about 2k k's later squeeking checked everything ended up being the castle nut had come loose thank god for the split pin. Tightened up all fixed for 2 weeks and started again took nut and washer off and the washer was deformed it is a lot smaller than the original washer I am getting a bigger one fitted hope this fixes it. pardon my ignorance , where exactly is the Castle Nut located ? would it be the same Nut that holds the Ball joint assembly together :?:

Sorry It's the bolt that holds the ball joint to the top diff houseing it has a washer and a split pin the nut size on mine is 30mm it hard to use a shifter big enough to tighten it up. I see your local at Pennenant hills if needed I have a 30mm ring spanner

Hi Mate , it would be really great if I 'd be able to borrow the 30 mm Ring Spanner to do up the Castle Nut , I don't have / carry this size , the biggest I have is probably a 22mm or 1" in Imperial.

hey guys, i to have found this nut loose a number of times and have found that it is due to over travelling the ball joint it has simply pulled the thread threw the nut.
'78 2 door Rangie, 3.9L , 2" body, 4" long travel, 35s, rear locker, disco auto, caged. GQ 4.2 18psi, 5" lift, ARB lockers, 33s,
