Seen the light

Post by TUFF60 »

I am about to join the Suzuki camp (on monday night) after a long run with Toyota's and i have a few Q to ask that yes, may have been aked before :D. On a SWB 93 sierra, How would a 2 inch B/Lift, 2 inch shackle lift, and 2 inch spacers welded between the chassis and spring hangers with standard springs and running 32's go, as to doing a SOA and running 32's or 33's? It will have F/R welded diffs and only for offroad in every thing from rock's to very muddy clay and slosh. How would LRange be running 32's or 33's with stock gearing for the time being? Any help appreciated ;)

You should'nt have to many dramas,I did something similar when i first got my zook, all except the the welded spacer in between the the chassis and the hangers. Are you intendeing on using it in comps???
If so you will more than likely have to get an engineers report done,And if so you will find it hard to the extended shackles and the welded spacers passed...
As for the welded diffs,You will find it very hard to steer and manuvere, especially on tightb tracks...thats what found....

hope this helps...

u will definatly need gearing ;)

if you are goin to all tha hassel of body lift, shackle lift and droped hangers just go SOA it will give u same amount of lift for the 32 to 33's

plus welded front and rear running rocks with 32's means bring spares :D

I want to go SOA and i think i will :D .As for the longer shackles and chassis spacers, the engineer has no probs with it, all you DONT do is weld ACROSS the chassis, or you can bolt them on and use crush tubes. How do the drive shafts go, are they long enough and if not can you get away with fitting a spacer. Thanks guys

deafently with 32" tryes on rocks running f/r locked diffs you'll be changing your clutch pretty soon, change your gearing and all will be fine.
if its worth doing do it intensly , better still do it with MADPASSION

To answer Fourwheelin's Q, the engineer i use is a local bloke that i stumbled onto up here. He is very thorough in his inspections and is very clear on what mods he will and wont have but also very reasonable as long as the safty factor is high. As far as i know he does not advertise his services, but is well known and that he only does it as a 'helping out' service and not for financial benefit. There is also Dave Roberts in Minto whos pretty good. PM me and i will put you in contact. What mods do ya want looked at?

have a look at your zook chassis, every crossmember is welded in with welds across the chassis.

true.

we had this discussion with an engineer before. He told us the exact same thing then we pointed out the zook chassis and a few other examples and he changed his mind
