Hi all,
Getting all the brakes sorted in my Hilux to the best I can and just have a question. Do your brakes feel as though they come on as soon as you hit the brake pedal or it moves and inch or so before it feels as though the brakes start to lock on?
The story is my master cylinder, booster, drums, calipers, pads have all been done. The car pulls up ok, although there seems to be a inch of travel in the brake pedal before I feel it stop. Just want to know if this is just normal Hilux braking
Brake shop has also looked at it and extended the load valve rod at the rear to make the rears work a bit more and put new front lines in it.

Brake pedal travel

Ok, few things to check then,
the one way valve on the vacuum feed to the booster, make sure it's the right way round and vacuum is getting to the booster
If you have a spare set of front lines, swap them, they can fail internally causing the lines to balloon under pressure.
Make sure the rear brakes are adjusted right. they should have some slight resistance when adjusted right.
make sure the booster and master cylinder are matched
that fluid that's being displaced during that first bit of travel has to be going somewhere
