Can anyone give me some tips on pulling apart a Cardon joint it's a hilux front.

Thats Clean ! ! !

Youl probably find that it was pressed together, not something thats desighned to be pulled apart.

Best option would be take it to toyota or wreckers and put it on the counter and say 'NEW ONE PLEASE"

Take it to a driveline place and get them to rebuild it with new unis and balance it properly

are they the same as std uni joint with a big c clip on the inside face of the yoke? remove C clips, then press the spider bearing cup out from each side.

pics of them clean might help ;)

With the two unis on the cardon joint end there is c clips on the inside of the yoke but only for half. the other half have been whats looks like a permanent assemble with no C clip but part of the casting as a retaining ring.
Not sure but i think the only way around it is to press it out with a very big press and machine the the inside of the cardon joint to take standard retaining clips.

you take out the circlips on all then put the flage on the vice and use a soft hammer and hit them out. The cups in the bigger body use a punch to punch them out. Clean it up properly and inspect the center pin of the cardon joint cos if it stuffed you need to cut and weld in a new end flange. this not a home job time to take to a driveline place or get a second hand on from the wreckers.

I have pulled a couple unis apart over the years but never one were half the uni is clipped into the casting. So what your saying is remove the two clips and then just punch it out or in my case i will use a press. and the side that uses the casting as a clip will pop out :?:

There WILL be 4 circlips for each cup as they are the original uj's, ya just gotta look harder. Remove the caps from the "H" yoke on the 4 bolt end first., once both caps are out the centreing pin will seperate from the ball kit, after that its pretty straight forward like removing a normal uj. Thanks for that i looked a little harder and found it :oops:
If you have a look at the pic below you will be able to see were i was going wrong my eyes were focusing on the wrong part :roll: :roll::roll:
