hi all ive heard the while at cruiser park on the comp weekends, the qld roads boys sit on the main road or around the area pinging illegal and unroadworthy cars
any insight on this, whos been caught? and do they tow right away?

seen it, heard of it and now for a fact that they do this probably to reach bouns for the end of the month. Sadly i have to agee to the idea of it. If you've got a 4by and it modifyed in a Dangerous way you should not be on the road. if you were to have a accident be it your fault or sombody elses they are going to throw the book at you.

there are some things that we (four wheelers) do to our cars are more safer then the stock cars when they came out, sadly there are some that go and build things that should not be on the road in first place.
legally speaking (in tas at least) 32" tyres on a vehicle designed for 31", is perfectly legal. so wheres ya problem there?
cracking down on vehicles that have a dodgy 3" body lift, 6" susp lift and 38" tyres is a different matter, and unless they have a certificate to say the work has been done in a manner that ensures the vehicle is still in a safe condition, then they should be pulled off the road.
if its legal, then there should be no reason that the vehicle is pulled off the road. if its not, tuff luck mate

they do this out at willowbank/qld raceway after street meets and drift days.. Potentially, the larger the diameter of your wheels the harder the brakes have to work to stop the vehicle (laymans terms). Larger whells without a brake upgrade can be dagerous.

Been pulled over after mud bulls a few years ago with 35's on just checked mod plates and let me go. They had cars off to the side everywhere SPOA 40, rolled 75 a guy was driving home and GQ's galore with big lifts! In that case I think they did an excellent job booking the guys who were most likely to harm themselves or others.
I am a stong believer that QLD should have better rules for modified 4x4's like we do for hot rods etc.
A guy with 33's on his sierra with upgraded wheel studs, better brakes than standard and a new 3" lift is safer than a guy rolling in a sierra with bald, hardened 28's rusty-damaged wheel studs and worn shackle bushes with leaking shockies. I think NSW have a better set up with the enginering process but I heard it can be expensive.

Pinging people when leaving say Calder Park after a night of legal offstreet racing for mods that are deemed unroadworthy by blanket standards, but actually improve the safety of the vehicle, not to mention the whole car in general is in pristine condition as owner cares for it, is piss poor imo.
They are trying to do the right thing and keep it off the industrial estates and are getting screwed for it.

illegal is illegal, not a hard concept to understand. There isn't just alittle bit illegal. A line has been drawn in the sand and stuff has been deemed illegal. Is it always reasonable probably not and that is where engineering should be a viable option to prove a mod is safe and reasonable. In some states this is available in others it isn't. But that is the way it is. By all means people should complain to the relevant people in the hopes of changing it but to just go ahead with mods that are illegal and then whinge and moan when they are caught is just childish.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with getting the dangerous shitters off the road for sure, but their are some guidelines that need to be revised as they are horribly outdated, especially in QLD.

In my own case, both my landies (originally fitted with 7.50x16 = 32") running 33" tyres have been through 2 or 3 RWCs in QLD and a couple of random roadside checks by DoT or the police and the tyres were never mentioned.

The park in question require rego to enter,so if your car is on a trailer than it's usally illegal anyway so they should not let you in the park but they still do.
Diaper RD in this park is a gazzeted road so the DOT could book you for driving your rego'd but still illegal car there,this applies for most comp trucks aswell.
Morall of the story is its only illegal if you get caught and this is the risk we all take.

Or what if your in your daily and have to suddenly brake, locking up the wheels and causing a flat spot thats bald (could happen on a highway, mayb), then trailering the car to the tyre shop to get it change. Why should you be booked for something like that.
At the end of the day the majority of DOT ppl have no clue when it comes to making the rules, and the cops have no idea when it comes to enforcing them. Ive herd to 2 different ppl getting done for 2" body lift, one cop said that you cant use polly only steel, the other said that you cant do it at all on a vehicle with a mod plate. To sit outside an event where ppl go to take there cars off the street to do racing or 4bing is just revinue raising. They should be targeting the ppl who dont look after there cars, run around on bald tyres and no brakes, oil leaks everywhere and more smoke out the back then hippys tent. Yet the guy with the roll cage, harness, upgraded suspension, tyre size upgrade and big brake kit is more of a danger to himself and society! Go figure!! The way i see it: Ow this guy has a nice car, those mods would have cost a mint! He must be able to pay for the big fines where bout to give him, BIG BONUS time for me!
Tho there are some nice cops out there, and not every modified car is done safely either, they just need more qualified ppl to identify the good from the crap.
Unfortunately, its been happening for years. I remember one Saturday night, after racing Bombers at the Archerfield speedway (now lets see, that has to be at least 25 years ago) DOT were waiting on the exit road, and pulled over every vehicle towing a race car on a trailer, and went over every trailer with a fine tooth comb.

they have doing it for a while .just trailer your offroad tires out and put them on when u get there if your trailing a rig out take the plates of until u get to the park some of the rigs getting around bris are just redneck mobiles any thing with a 6inch lift and 35s shouldn't be on road
