suspension for the 75
hey guys
last night i was lerking though all the old posts on the forum trying to reserch suspension setups for the 75. and after a hour and a half reading about diffrent peoples opinions and then reading in links that people have attached, i have made my self more confused.....
i had heard about parabolics, so i started buy serching them, found out that they are only sold for the front of a 75, and that that is where they are suited any ways, i know zoltan is running them, and have thought about it when i had a 60 a few years back, but then a few people started suggesting other brands of normal leafs, and yeah i am not at a lost of where to start collecting my thoughs.
maybe if i give a list of things i want or dont want, that will help to begin with,
2 inch lift max, no higher, do not want extended shackles, do not want anti inversions shackles, as from what i have read if you set your suspension up correctly you shouldnt need them, and that they can also cause more stress.
the truck is only for play, when i have finnished setting it up it will only have tray and bar work, bull bar and winch, posibly a larger fuel tank, and a small oil tank, radiator will probably be in the tray, and maybe converting from 2h to 12ht(can emagine that would be much different in weight)
i want to run 35/36s(posibly 37s), i do not want to coil it, i do not want to spring over it, i will happily re arange the front gaurds to suit. tray is obviously not a problem as when i make my own it will sit higher,
hope some one can lend me a hand with setting it up.
also for the time being it will be on 33s, with stock springs, so i was going to remove a few leafs, can any one give me a starting point for that??

Below is a couple of pics of my Troopy in Tassie, it's fitted with Medium load front and 400kg constant load rear springs and shocks from OME. It works together really well with minimal settling so far in over 15,000km...

I have a troopy with the OME dakar springs which gives about 3" lift, greasable shackles and Koni shocks.
The springs are 500kg extra, cos I used it for towing car trailers.
It still flexes good but is a little rough ride without a load. Here is a couple of flex pics with 33" tyres.

ok sweet mate, thanks for the help fellas, i wont be looking for too much load carrying capacity,
i will hope fully be taking of the monstrous tray, choping a little bit off the chassis, making a smaller tray, sliders, and front bar, add to that a winch one day, and possibly some outer barwork (exo)(or cage for comp very maybe) some tools, box, and snatch strap and hand winch,
thats really all i can think off that would be in the truck all the time, but every now and then there would be a bike on the tray.
i gues i should try and figure out how much all that weighs lol.... i wouldnt think that i would need heavy duty, maybe medium???

In my 73 series I run about 2-3inch lift and upto a 35'' simex tyre. You will get best results by running longer springs AND/OR moving the spring mounts around to achieve optimum shackle angles at ride height and under full compression. Definitely run anti inversion shackles, they do no harm.
In my current setup I run 60 series rear leaves front and rear. Rear end flex is limited by tyre clearance, front is limited by too short shocks at the moment, about 3'' to short.
These photos are with a 33'' tyre, I get very good tuck into the front guards, which are raised 2''.




With the 35''s on, they are a good fit and the car is low and wide.
