How to tell a longfield gear from standard?

Post by Lux_89 »

hey guys... just a set of longfield hub gears in a set of avm hilux hubs to go on my solid axle hilux... i took the gear out of the avm, compared to my oem hub gear and they both are 27spline, but on the outside, the avm is 22spline and the oem yota one is 21 spline? the supposedly longfield one will not fit in my oem hub, so does anyone know whats going on here??

Apparently longfeilds are only for oem type hubs so i dont know how they can be in a set of avm hubs.. the previous owner that i brought them from doesen know the history of them but insures they are strong??

got me stumped??

any help would be great cuz i dont wanna run these longs with a dodgey gear if they are cuz it will strip the long if and when it does let go...

Thanks, chris ;)

Not realy sure without seeing it but Most AVM hubs are sh!t! Compared to stock originals, I havent seen the internal of the AVM in so long i couldn't tell you what the go is but if the gears wont fit your oem then i can't see them being a set of long hub gears.

Yeah chris my long hub gears fitted straight into the standard hub. They look pretty well identical to the standard gear. If you get onto Locktup I'd say you would have them before tough tracks.

my bad sorry dude i misread it you need the long gears to fit the oem hubs you allready have.... ring longfields and ask them if they make one for an avm hub....if no then theres a good chance you have a brumby you might need to invest in some hub gears so you can maintain that longfields LIFETIME warranty.

longfield hub gears are for AISIN hubs only, NOT - AVM!

AVM = bin

just use some aisin hubs, they are a dime a dozen and the long hub gears will fit;)
