GQ wheelbase extention via a chassie cut

Post by Reddo »

Gents;

I'm after some info about anyone who has cut the chassie to extent there SWB GQ patrol's wheelbase. I don't want to cut the mounts off, i think that's going to take to long. Its more welding/cutting. The engineer is going to be happy so long as the cut is done to the set rules and specs listed on their website.

Info;

I'm looking to go for is 103" out from the std 93.4"
the car has a 3" body lift that is defently coming out, i cant get it engineered with that in it, so i'm taking out
The car has 3/4" lift springs and runs 37 on big offset
I'm chopping the guards out and spacing the front diff forward.

The problems and questions i need answered are;

1) Did you cut the rear bar down, and leave the std fuel tank in?

2) Did you replace the std tank with a long rang tank?

3) Does anyone have any pics of there extention

4) Has anyone got any spy pics of the under side of GQhoons car from victoria (its green, full body and it threw a rod/piston in outback-bugger)? He also goes under the names of Pete, chucky, Hoonz, as I'm pretty sure he chopped his chassie instead of moving the coil hats.

5) is there enough room to do any of the above and keep the std tank?

6) my problem is i have 6 days to get the job done, so I'm sizing my options up

7) How did you get around the filler cap/pipe issue

8) Come on, challenge me to use the search button!

any other info would be great

Other opinions are most welcome from people who have done theirs the other way;

thanks

jimmy

Pretty sure he is PeteGQ or GQpete.
As for his car there where some pics on the Ontrack website. Not sure if there still though. But I thought they cut the mounts and moved them back. As the Chassi is no longer than a std SWB.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....

Not as yet, i was hoping he'd see the thread and post up
I have his number, so i might call him, (he bought a few things off me in jan)
I did look on ontrack's web site, and there isnt anything there anymore, + when Pete was in my shed, i did ask him about it, and he said he copped the chassie, and moved it all back.

might PM him on TMR
