death wobbles

ive got a 80 series with 4 inch springs, castor plates adj panhard rods. at about 80kms if hit a bump or start braking i get really bad death wobbles and have to slow right down to stop it,the swivle bearings are brand new.has any one had this issue?

Make sure all the bolts are tight. reall tight you have to get on there with a big breaker bar and extention. next check/replace the bushes. worn bushes are the likely cause, especially since 80's with 200k+ on them are likely running original bushes. Also check the tierod ends for wear.

couple of qq's did u put the lift in and it started this or did u do the swivels and it started doing it......check the panny is tight both ends...this is a good death wobble area....also run a tape measure across the front tyre to tyre...and also back of tyre to back of tyre...should be 2mm narrower up front.(tow in)....any more and that will give you issues with wide rubber....
lastly, check the tyres for bubbles/seperation of tread to carcus...jack and spin

check your panahrd rod bushes are ok and also check all the bolts in the front and tie rod ends

Check the panhard bushes first, also make sure panhard bolts are tight.
Check tierod ends and wheel bearings for play too.

worn tie rod ends has caused this in mine.

As above, I had this happen in mine and it was the worn urethane bushes in the adjustable panhards.

Replaced them with genuine rubber ones and no more wobbles, bloody expensive though.

panhard and the bushes are brand new,ive had a w/a dont when i put the lift in adjustable panhard rods in,wheel bearing adjustment good.

as someone else above posted make sure you use genuine bushes in your panhard , i have seen aftermarket bushes flog out in a week causing death wobbles

x2 seems to be very common. also check that all the bolts in your radius arms are tight, especially with the caster plates as there is more chance of moving/flexing

I have had the same setup as you for 5 years and have recently experienced the exact same thing at 80km. Just checked mine over, everything tight etc and I noticed that a swaybar rubber is cactus. Their been in there for 16 years, so I will change them out during the week and it might fix the problem.

Swaybar bushes only come into play when cornering, it won't do anything for wobbles.

check the kingpin/steering arm bolts too. they need to be *&(%**&^$ tight especially with bigger lift and rubber. make sure the control arm bolts are TIGHT at the chassis end and at the axle.

Been there done that.

went through all the usualy radius arm bushings, swivel hub bearings, etc

Eventually it was the panhard arm bushes and there tension, no problems since

make sure the holes where the panhard bolts on arnt worn, ive seen a few flog out, easy fix is weld on a high tensile washer
