CAV Filters

Post by CWBYUP »

I have been wondering about cav filters for a while and don't know the differance between a good one and a bad one.

Is something like in the link below ok ?

I think they work pretty well, I'm not sure how they compare to the standard Nissan filter though?

I run 2 CAV filters between tank and OE filter. At around $10 for a 2132, instead of around $60 for an OE filter, it makes sense.

I have been told by the specialist who rebuilt my pump that it needs filtering down to 4 micron as the Nissan filter apparently does.
The Delphi/Cav 296 filters for less than $7.00 do also. Baldwin I don't know.
I was also told that the Ryco filters only filter to approx. 12-14 micron hence the issues with my pump.
That kit is a good investment.

What about the wiring and float for the water trap in the standard filter, can you run it in the CAV filter?

my switch didn't float in water, I have been running a CAV for years now with now issues.

Just lift the bonnet periodically and inspect the bowl.
