can anyone sheds some light?
ok after much reading and look and testing
last weekend i raninto electrical trouble in my 2h diesel 60 seires
i burnt out a fuseable lynk on the positive terminal with wihch was labled glow plugs
after this happened i found a few other porblems
my alternator now only charges at 12-12.9v
my glow light on the dash bard as soon as you turn the keey to heat the glow plugs it turns straight off
i can also hear the click click under the bonnet as it turns on then right off again,
now after talking to an auto eleky says it could be number of things
could be the alternator
could be the starter relay
could be a wire earthing out
i just need some help as im running out of thing to look at and figure out

looks like a relay/solenoid switch (not an autoleccy so not sure of the jargon)
when you turn the ignition power is sent through the thin wires to trigger the solenoid, which closes the contacts beween the two bigger terminals on top. If its not getting enough current through it, the contactor will drop out again. ie you will hear a loud click as contact is made, and again when contact drops out.
I had a similar problem with a 24v starter relay and it turned out to be low voltage from one battery. if you can hear it clicking open and closed its probably fine and the problem is elsewhere.
did you fix the fusible link?
Is your battery in good nick/fully charged? check that it is delivering 12v under load, ie when starting
did you sort out whats going on with alternator? check for dodgey earth connections to alternator, engine, chassis etc

i have a some wire on the feuseable link just till i get the proper stuff to replace it,
battry was fully charged at 12v and still click on and off
i have fiound when i turn the key i hear this relay go on and off at the same time as the starter relay dose the same thing as dose the glow plug lights on the dash bard
as for the alternator when the car is running i get maybe 12.9v max around the 2000rpm
as soon as i put a load on the the volts starts coming down
i have a seond alternator i can try out see if that works and what not see what happens

yeah wires heavey enough, i have a loot tomorrow,
i chuck on the other alternator, everything seem to look ok for a bit untill i tryed to turn off car and wouldnt turn off, and had oils lights stay on but was charging over 13v , but blew out engine fuse, and back to sqaure one
i'll again check the volts it drops to tomorrow

in my lux(2L), the alternator has an external voltage regulator which is mounted drivers side inner guard. it needs to be replaced as dash lights stay on for a minute after start up, but apart from that, it runs fine. i dont know if ive helped. but it could be the same on your 60. good luck
