all depends on your need for a winch. i have never needed a winch if i cant do something i wont do it. but recently purchased camper and have done more trips just me and partner, and winch would only be used if i got stuck trackin around, and i think this winch would be all i would need.

If you keep it maintained it would be perfect for your needs. But lets face it even the best gear sometimes craps itself :?
I don't think it would be the best option if you had intensions of putting it thru hell in mud etc.

Or you could buy a warn... You only need to carry a couple of sets of solinoids to keep them reliable

IMHO name brands like warn are bad enough. I would go a s/h warn. Its probably one of the mose dangerous things you can own - I would save money elsewhere.

it was stated here
http://toyotasurf.asn.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20982
that these are just old unsold stock of ironman winches from several models ago. so if you don't mind the fact that its not the newest of new, who cares? especially for that price.

Just out of interest, the Aldi here in the City has 6 of the buggers lined up still & a couple of compressors.

I would say they are not a big mover amongst the druggies & latte set :D

Anyway, if you missed one & you want one & its not too far for you to get here then they have them.

sometimes you don't even get that,

at least when your cheap arse winch dies, you'd be half expecting it too.

I didnt see any but I wasnt looking for them either. I have to go & buy a 9 volt battery today so I will look then for you.

That particular shop has so much old stock form previous sales that I would not be surprised if they do.

I thought only the first round of aldi winches were ironman? this is about the 3rd or 4th round now and from what i could gather in the past the 1st ones were different to the following lots - which although used ironman photos etc on the box seemed to be more of a knock off job? but this is heresay as it was just what was dicussed about 9 months ago.
