Hi
I just got my hands in a 91 swb zook with calmini 6.5 transfer gears installed. I would like to know how do you check to see that it is 6.5 gears.
It has 33" tyres and on the freeway it will sit on 100km eventhou the speedo says 80km and rev at about 3200rpm
Any ideas?

How do you check to see what transfer gears are installed
It sounds like you do - assuming 1.65 :1 high range (usual for 6.5:1 transfer gears) means your road RPM is correct.
The other way is jack the back wheels up, put the case in 4L, put some marks on the rear driveshaft and turn the jackshaft (with the gearbox in neutral)
the jackshaft should turn 6.5 times before the rear driveshaft turns once.
Steve.

shouldnt whine to the point you cant hear anything but the whine. sounds like it needs shimming up and maybe some new bearings......
Have you checked if it has GOOD oil???

Lots of custom gear as I cant afford the proper stuff.

Some whine in low range is inevitable.
If it's loud (and I mean louder than any other driveline noise) at highway speed it could be time for a rebuild to factory specs - watch out the clearances/thrusts are correct.
Make 100% sure it's the transfer and not 5th gear in the gearbox though - my car has a whine on the highway but it's from 5th, not the transfer.
Some gears are worse than others though.
