poootroll,

what did the commo clutch fan setup cost?
What was the depth difference, ie the distance to the rad from the fan blade?

cheers

radiator fan clutch

Post by poootroll »

I got mine for nothing of my brother as i said the whole setup was off a commodore. the clutch fit straight on as well (it was slightly larger) it sat about 10mm closer to the radiator wich isn't necessarily a bad thing.

If i were you i might take of the fan and clutch and take them with you to the local holdan wrecker. It may be cheaper than the nissan counterpart.
also it appears as though the holden fan would create better airflow Better design of blades.

I'll try and find out what model commodore it was off.

ebay sells new fans for approx 90.00 delivered. the clutch will be considerable dearer i would imagine

first i had a standard replacement copper 2 row from a rad importer that leaked in 3 months this one is the heavy duty verison of theres which is a 3 row but at one year it has started to leak at most weld joints call em up it its just out of warranty so im goin to get it beefed up at a local radiator joint also they'll give me a 3 year warranty. i had paid 320 for mine bout a year and a half ago and when i looked into the aussie made ones they wanted 450 to 500 then.

1TUFFGQ where bouts you located coz the guy i got in tullamarine in VIC wants 300 to do full reco but i guess i do get a 3yr warranty.

Personally I wouldnt get a used item.. your engine is worth more than that.

What engine do you have?? Turbo/non?
Are you having overheating issues? Or your old one is worn out/leaking?
Have you had yours rodded? Flushed?

I went to local radiator place and got mine reconditioned with new 3 core when I did mine.

Alloy is good, like desert cooler etc, but they are $1000...

ok so found out today
that copper is better as aloy cant be fixed and copper can be fixed on side of road etc if need be, like stoping a pipe leaking/ fold it over use lead to plug etc.

you lot think this is a good point.
