turbo noise
turbo noise
hey blokes i have a 03 4.2TD i have a 3 inch exhaust with hot dog i still have the standard dump pipe i have heard other patrols with loud turbo noise how do i achieve this?
Do you mean the intake sound (sounds like a big vacuum cleaner) or the turbo whistle?
Although its not really a practical need/want......
Intake sound can be made louder by better plumbing ie. bigger intake pipes, less restrictions, smoother bends and a better flowing air filter. If you care for your truck's motor even one poofteenth - don't fit a K&N filter (i wont elaborate, but do a search on here if you want more info).
Exhaust sound can be made louder by fitting a bigger/better dump (3"), run a full straight through pipe with no mufflers. You will find that the hotdog muffler/resonator is stopping a fair bit of the whistle. A fixed diameter mandrel bent exhaust would probably help too, although that would be a lot of money just to get a loud whistle - most people do these mods to improve power.
Lastly, i hate loud turbo whistle. I much rather the sound of the air rushing in to the snorkel, taking any small birds or wildlife with it.
