spoa kit rocky road

gday guys, im just about to purchase a bolt on 5" spoa kit with the OTT high steer kit from rocky road outfitteres, just wandering if anybody knows how good they are and have had experience from this kit so just to know what im expecting, and if theres any problems. ( also if anybody knows when buying this kit do you have to buy the OTT high steer kit aswell, if not dont worry ) thanks alot.

yep had one and just pulled it out.the full kit.
you can buy my ott if you like.
the kits ok be prepared to wait for it as they are notiously slow to send stuff.

Remember to specify Right hand drive if you order the stage 1 kit...

'Plopper' asked about the Spoa kit and the OTT kit and 'AJSR' infered that he had both, but didnt clarify why he removed it ??

It will not fit unless you are SPOA. He removed his SPOA setup, and returned it to SPUA, hence the removal.

edit - Look, I don't really care, I just don't want the dude who asked being swayed from purchasing a good product...

the reason ajsr (me) pulled the rocky road spoa kit out is simple.
I was trying to make the zook more stable on side slopes.Without going to toyota axles and all that other bullshit,I wanted a suzuki not some hybrid million dollar half toyuki .
the kit itself is OK and the ott steering is GREAT but it was not what I wanted in the end.
So with some good advice from Gwagen and a couple of others its now become more what I needed as opposed to what I thought I needed if that makes sense, Its not as good in say a rampover sense but virtually everwhere esle it is far more capable with maybe more flex and I'm now getting confedence that it will stay upright due to a lower cog. I hindsight I wish I'd spent more time seaching and asking questions about the pros and cons,I'd have saved a fortune and a lot of time.
I'M NOT SAYING SPOA IS NO GOOD , JUST NO GOOD FOR ME

Do I think that the rocky road bolton kit was good? Well really NO the quality is good but I ended up welding mine on as it kept coming lose and moving so if your going to get a kit get a weld on one. If you are going spoa I can highly recommend rocky OTT kit its a well made product that works well and its tough as nails.

there is no 'great spoa kit'.

all the kits i have seen are rubbish and don't improve the vehicle at all. but a spoa set up can be done correctly, but will require more work than a kit is capable of offering.

i got some Rocky Road spring perches for my zook a while back.. they arrived fairly quick (UK) and i was less than impressed with the quality of them!

advertised laser cut.. more like plasma cut! if youre importing from US go sky manufacturing

i hope they've improved since if you're going bolt on route... seriously consider getting them welded though.. "bolt on spoa" just doesn't sit right with me...

hey low down dirty, how r ya mate, how much did that cost cause they quoted me $350 usd to aus which is like about $455 or somethin, but they didnt mention about wats there companies name is, so how much was sky manufacturing ? cheers buddy.

yeah, postage to the UK wasnt too bad.. i think in total after import duty and tax it cost me about £120 ish...? not sure how much that comes to in aus $...

i didnt look into sky manufacturing at the time, i just went ahead and bought rocky road... got them, and was disappointed in the quality... then saw sky's perches and wished id gone that route..

since then ive bent my axles so needed new ones and got them from a company in the UK (still cost the same though)...

im surprised there isnt a company is Oz that do 'em to be honest...

perhaps getting a quote from a UK company for shipping might work out cheaper? im looking at a front axle seal kit from Oz and the postage to here seems quite cheap..just a thought..
