Hey guys,
I'm a German traveller in a Landcruiser HJ60. My rear breaks are just shit and not working anymore. The Old Telegraph Track was a little bit to much for them :-)
I need new break shoes and one new break cylinder in my rear breaks. Anyone in Cairns (or around) who can change them for me? Where can I buy the parts?
I'm in Cairns on the 16th and 17th so would be great if someone would have time for me and my Cruiser
I am not in Cairns but I will suggest that if you are overhauling your rear brakes, replace everything. at least the wheel cylinders, shoes, and drums, plus any of the other parts that are worn or damaged. all the parts should be available from any car parts shop - Repco etc, but hopefully you'll find a board member who can provide them for a better price.
One cylinder is leaking, so I would change both. And the breaks. The drums have to stay. Had them adjusted/cleaned a couple of weeks ago and the mechanic said they are fine.
Hope there is someone in Cairns who could help me?
Im not from Cairns, but holidayed up that way this time last year. Anyway thier was a big TJM store on the road that heads towards Atherton if thats of any help.
For memory its on your right on way out of town.
If you havent done it already get on a charter boat and spend the day out at the reef. Also at the marina at night their is a dinner/cruise approx $50ea its quiet nice for something diffrent.
Head up tp Karanda for the markets one day if you got time. Which way you heading ????? North or south
Just had a quick look. Mackay is about 700km away. As I'm driving already a couple of days without rear breaks, I think I don't want to risk more. But thank you!
Would it be an option to buy the parts and if nobody can help me, go with the parts to a mechanic? Would that be cheaper? Or would he kick me out?
