I've got a good one here, for the toyota diesel technical wizards on the board.
Is the timing gear case sub assembly on a 12HT the same as that from a 2H of any year? I have a large crack in the timing gear case and am looking at replacing it. I don't like my chances of finding one from a 12HT.
Thanks,
Shaun.

12HT timing gear case question

Pretty sure they are the same. dunno if the 2H has a tapped hole for the oil feed like some 12-HT's do though, that feeds oil onto the injector pump timing gears. Wouldnt be too hard to get someone to drill and tap.....

Are we talking about the same part? I'm reffering to the sub assembly, not the cover. I hope you are talking about the sub assembly, as that would give me a huge break not having to find one specifically for a 12HT.
Here is a link to an online Toyota parts catalogue. I'm referring to part number:
11301 CASE SUB-ASSY, TIMING GEAR
11301-68020 2H, 12HT..HJ6*
The one right at the top of the list.
Thanks.

I was talking about the cover, but I am pretty sure the sub assembly as you call it is the same between 2H and 12-HT. I know the oil pump valve and relief valve is the same.......
I just rang a mate at a 4x4 wreckers who is right up there with early cruiser stuff and he cant see there being any difference. There is a difference between early and late 2H and 12-HT assemblies, but that is only that the later models have an allen bolt/screw in the assembly to make it easier to line up the injector pump when taking it off and replacing it.
