Post by young pup »

I had to buy a new rhd front quarter window and i have noticed that no other patrol has the same quarter window as mine.

I still havent seen any other patrol with the same window shape as mine. Why is this?

electric mirrors on the doors affect the window too, if you have the electric mirrors the window is shorter with that flat edge, other wise you may have 1/4 vents (didnt realize GQ's had em)

It sounds to me like someone may have put MQ doors on it. :?

I've never heard of them with the front quarter windows.

Cheers Mick.

na no electric mirrors, i went to nissan and gave them the chassis number n what not. they had the glass in stock, so they must be gq doors...
the mirrors are in a different place aswell..

import model maybe??

They will most likely be MQ doors. even more so because the mirrors are in a different place....

MQ and GQ doors are identical other then the quarter window glass, interior trims ( which just swap straight over ) and the location of the mirrors.....

Ive never seen a GQ with quarter windows before....

If you told the nissan dealer you needed them he prob would of looked up a slightly earlier model to find them......

I have 1/4 windows in my GQ (1990 DX LWB). I use them nearly every day in summer (A/C not working).

Can't say i've really taken much notice of other GQ's front windows, so cant comment on that.

ah thats cool...

ive got alot to find out about this car, the person that owned it used it to travel around aus in then the engine buggered out, so she got a reco'ed 4.2 petrol put in up in nt, the bastards that did it stole the gas system wired everything up a bit dodgy and put a piece of aggy pipe silconed in from the snorkel to the filter box.... dodgy dodgy.

to make matters worse it got broken into and the whole thing was gutted, all that was left was seats and the wheels (only because they had those thief proof lock nuts on). so they drove it home n sold it as cheap as chips...

yeah i didnt either untill i tried to find one, now i look at every gq's window and still havent seen one, so they must be mq doors.

Yeh....

Ok so possibly the model of GQ just first coming into the market after MQ ran MQ doors.... This might be possible as i know some of the early early GQ utes run MQ guards and grill and leave springs but GQ drive line and dash etc.....
If GQ did come out with quarter windows it probably was only in the 88 models and probably only in the wagons very early when they came out..... Could even be MQ doors that Nissan has left over when the GQ came out and fitted them to all the base models for example.....

I'd say that this would be the most likely scenario.

My car has drums too. I wonder if there's a spec or plate code that depict the 1/4 windows, like there is for diffs/engine/seats etc.....

My shorty is disks.

Disks isnt determined by SWB and LWB. Its purely the model. The early base models had drums... the newer and higher models had disks in the rear.

Mine has drum rear and factory A/C - but no other factory options.

Does this mean my Patrol is rare and i can sell it for $100,000??
