gq engine mount differences

Post by BeNoS »

hey all
in the middle of a td42 diesel transplant on my gq shortie. the problem ive currently struck is the diesel engine mounts are a 4 bolt type and my tb42 petrol chassis used the 2 bolt engine mount. what im wondering is will the petrol engine mounts do the job with a turbo diesel engine, cause my other options are seemingly chop the mounts off and put the diesel mounts onto my chassis or weld up the current plates and redrill the holes with the 4 bolt holes. and both are alot more effort than its worth.
thanks heaps for your help
cheers ben

the petrol mounts will do the job no problems, they only updated in the later model patrols, i think they went 4 bolt in 93 or 94, where as the earlier ones had 2 bolt,

al in all they will be fine

yeah man had the same problem when i did mine. I've just left the petrol mounts on cause i wasn't really interested in cutting my chassis to peices for that fact, they've worked fine so far and that was a few years ago now.

All you gotta do is unbolt your engine mount brackets off your petrol motor and they bolt pretty much straight on the diesel. I saw pretty much cause i had a small amount of trouble getting the passenger side bracket on so had to open one of the holes slightly but really not that hard.
Honey i cut the car in half!
