hilux brakes effed...

Post by young pup »

Can someone tell me whats with my brakes, sometimes when im driving slow i can feel the rear brakes come on with out even touching the pedal, it usually happens after putting on the brakes for the first time after starting the car...

other times ill be at the lights and try to take off when the brake locks on, i either have to roll back slightly to release it or just accelerate then a big clunking noise happens when the brake releases then its fine....

its not like the brakes are too tight because the drums dont feel hot to touch.

i have a feeling it may be my brake booster of sumthing to do with the load proportioning valve

have you been 4x4ing in mud recently? If so give them a good clean out and see if that makes a difference

Could be jammed up with crap. The wheel cylinder could also be sticking.

Give them a good hose out through the removeable bung on the back as see if makes a difference. If not take a drum off and have looksee.

yeh they should be really clean because i recently replaced the rear wheel bearings and while i was at it i pulled the drums apart cleaned them and put them back together, but i also lengthened the load proportion valve to suit my 5 inch lift because only the front brakes work... now its the back brakes playing up

ill pull apart the drum this weekend n see if anything is jamming or sticking...

brakes

i had a very similar thing with my 93 hilux.
The value at the start of the brake line bleed it from there.
the value that lets it back into the bottle would be sticking on.
i would be driving along and they would come on because they were getting hot

but what i did bleed all the lines a bit make shore it is clean drain what is in the bottle and put new in crack the bleed value at the start of your brake line near the booster..... give that a try

happy now miss prim and proper

it makes no sense...

first, try some punctuation and use the correct words... at least you spelt them correctly, even if you used the wrong words in the wrong places.

secondly, what is the value on the bottom of the bottle? cant be cheap i would imagine...
