Mate carry a squeezeable drink bottle and give it a blast after muddy holes,
you will know when its not charging as all the lights on the dash come on,
Don't turn the car off, coz it might not start again and flood with clean water :D
Hope this helps

hows this for an idea
plumb in a windscreen washer bottle with fitting directly into the brush assy
then an air fitting connected with an arb airlocker solinoid to blow it dry after washing?

would be a cool party trick

:D

Take it off when it is dry and hit it with a rubber mallet, wash and blow dry but that only fixes it. just dont go in the pigpen at cruiser haha ;)
