I know the early ones are the same as 40/60. ie. 4.1 front rear, same diff.

The later ones with the highpinion 8" front might be 4.11 but im not sure.

They are definantly either 4.1 or 4.11

unless your diff ratios have been changed, they are definantly 4.11 (4.1?)

the difference between 4.11 and 4.1 is insignificant aslong as you dont try and drive on bitumen.

Just do it...all cruisers had 4.1 of your era, and how much do u drive in 4wd on bitu? the way to find out which diff it is, is to ask them to count the teeth....37/9 is 4.11 and came out in all cruisers till the hzj75 in 1990, after that it was 41/10 4.1 as in the 80 series. The 4.1 is stronger, cruisers have been slowly increasing in strength over subsequent models....the locking centre of this diff will fit either centre aswell with the right bearings. I would be more concerned with which locker model it is...the early ones had 4 allen screws holding the halves together, and they used to come appart...had 2 do it in my cruisers....only the latest model arb is a reliable thing, somewhere in the middle of production, they havd seal issues and oring issues etc etc
