hi every one that can help me. im looking to do a solid axels swap to my inderpendent front 91 hilux xtra cab. just wondering how to go about it. do i buy a f'd 90 model hilux with the solid axel in it and convert it in to mine or buy the kit. and what do i have to change to my steering etc to fit as i have 2 inch body lift and 2 inch suspension. any info will help me heaps. cheers David

I'd buy the kit personally, especially with the exchange rate improving, or sell it and buy a solid axle hilux.

To buy a hilux and change it over you'd need to do the following and then alot more.

x-over/hi-steer
Steering box remains, youll need an 80 series pit man arm and either a hi steer or x over kit

fabricate/weld on a front hanger, and shackle mounts.

You could use stock hilux springs although this is pointless seen as your going to the effort to sas it, if you did buy a f'd hilux you could use the rears and do "rears up front", depends on your budget and if you can do it your self.

Buy/fabricate shock hoops, and shocks.

buy brake lines etc etc, the list goes on and on.
