NSW Toperi Challenge 2009
Well after our first working bee everything is looking excellent for the Toperi Challenge 2009.
This year we will be starting at 10.30-11.00am Sat 28th November, Gates will be open from 10.00am Friday. No entry after 11.00pm Friday till 6.00am Sat.
Comp entry fee will remain the same at $300 per team ( 2 cars).
There are some exciting new rules this year and these will be posted on our website in coming weeks. All the teams that competed last year will get thier entries sent to them 2 weeks before any one else, so i suggest that you make the most of the headstart and get prepared early. The first entries will go out around the middle of June. The limit will be 35 teams (70 cars) first in only. The first 5 teams will get to choose where they would like to start. If anyone who competed last year has changed thier e-mail address can you please send the new one to me now.
For some entertainment Sat night while socialising around the campfire there will be an RC Challenge around some short challenging courses with cash prizes up for grabs. This will only be open to battery powered cars.
Looking forward to seeing you all again.

once inside though it depends on the weather.
i had to lock the hubs in my 80 when towing. as did a hilux or surf who was bogged just in from the gate. its a long mild uphill grade.
so add rain and its very slippery.

As DRS said, gradual up hill, then grassy camp area. No clearance issues for a 2wd car, track was nice (barely a pothole), just a bit greasy last year from Friday's rain.j-top paj wrote:any clearance issues for a 2wd but? id come in the GU but a mate might want to come in his car too.

you shouldnt have any probs, last year i saw heaps of 2wd vehicles going up the hill, there was a nice long set of ruts left by the tilt tray that went up sat lunch time -was being towed by the tractor . there was another track beside the ruts to drive up which was smooth.
did anyone get pics of the white ute that got bogged near stage 2 last year just after the sat nite run finished, was funny watching at4suzzyq aka spiderman truck try to snatch him out. eventually got the excavator to pull him out
any news on prices for spectators yet??

Are the pre entries for clubs that competed last year or vehicles ?Toperi wrote:Entries will be e-mailed to all the clubs that competed last year on Sunday 21st. Entries will be downloadable from our website 2 weeks after that for everyone else. http://www.canobolas4wd.com/ Good Luck
Is there still three teams available per entered club?
If a club entered 2 teams last year would they be able to enter 3 teams this year on the pre entry or only two on pre entry & try for a 3rd after the 2 weeks is up?
Thanks
This year it will only be a maximum of 2 teams from any club. Only the clubs that competed last year get thier entries early.

Love the reviewed rules but can you just clarify something for me.
With 9 mins to finish a course, less the penalties with say, +44” tyres -2 min, Coilovers front and rear -3 min, rear steer -3 min, hydraulic suspension -2 min, there might be trucks/buggies that would have -1 min to finish. Sucks to be them. This should bring it back to real 4X4's by the sounds of it.

The time penalty only comes off your total time of 28 mins.
After 9 mins on stages 1 and 2 we will time the team out at whatever points they are at and they will move on to the next stage.
Last year there was some confusion when competitors were told they had eg: 14 mins to go, thinking it was only for that stage, but that was the time left for that team to finish all 4 stages.
The new rules will even up competition and put some pressure on the big teams to perform.

So some of the big teams will only have 18mins to complete the whole thing sounds great, can't wait for this years event
