I am currently running 31" BFG M/T on standard sierra axles with ARB air lockers and i want to upgrade to maybe a 35". Would the sierra diffs cope with that size rubber? i realise i'll need to get cromo cv's/axles

Well, it depends on how hard you drive the zook...
Yes, your diffs should be able to cope. But one thing to consider is you may need to get a another air locker for the front cos the the chromo axles have 26 splines (same as rear axles). I'm not sure how many splines standard front axles have (can't remember), but to run the chromo's you'll have to change the side gears in the front diff. I may be wrong with that above statement.. not sure.. I'm running rear air-lockers in my zook both front and rear with chromo axles/cv's with 33's and it works well...

get the diffs laminated and reinforced - im bending diffs on 31's without reinforcing them =)
35's you might want to consider some sort of power steer, as well as diff gears to compliment im assuming your tcase gears you have?
its still pushing it though... most consider 31's to be the most reliable tyre size for zuk diffs/axles, stretching to 33's for some depending on driving style. 35's is toyota territory.

It depends how and what you drive.
We have a few cars down here in vic on 35\'s, and all things considered, they are quite stable* However, there\'s good reasons why we\'ll do everything possible to keep running sierra stuff.
Our rock isn\'t generally sandstone, so when we\'re on it, it\'s not that grippy anyway, so we can\'t generate the peak torque loads possible in NSW.
We have to deal with massive ruts. When it\'s dry we can choose to be in or out of them, but when it\'s wet, we\'re in them. Diff clearance is a huge issue down here.
The length of our slippery, rutty climbs favours a lighter car overall and a car with lower unsprung weight.
* That\'s not to say they will hold up stock. Doubletough fronts, solid pinion spacers, and professional gear setup all helps. There\'s also no question that 35\'s take the rear axles beyond what\'s sensible. the have alsted quite well, but they\'re marginal. With a heavy car, or lots of bouncing, (and age) the rear axles will go. Our solution is a vitara based full floating diff with EN-26 axles. There\'s a bit of coin in that setup, but you also get bigger gears, bigger bearings, stronger axletubes, disk brakes in the rear, and serviceable rear wheelbearings. We have one of these in service in the club ATM with 35 12.5 Krawlers on 8\" steel beadlocks, and it\'s been fine.
The downside is a loss of 15mm of diff clearance over a 1.3 litre sierra rear diff, but that\'s the effect of a 30mm bigger ring gear for you. would it be cheaper to go MQ/hilux? Probably (unless you don\'t already run 5.12 gears and lockers,) but the added weight and loss of ground clearance is an unacceptable penalty IMHO for the terrain down here.

yeah thats what im thinking (and you know exactly what im gunna try drive ) Will probably take out the sierra diffs and sell them off with the lockers and stick some shaved hilux diffs under it now. mmmmmm coils wish I could afford coils opps back on topic yeah go lux diffs or even better 60 diffs Im running 80 diffs with 37's 4:11 diff gears & 6.5 transfer gears its a bit slow on the road peaks out at about 80km but krawls awsome offroad but she dosent see the tar much
