89 lux ln106 , 3L gearing help needed please

Post by 89flatout »

My 89 3L has a 3 inch leaf sprung kit and i am adding 33 x 12.50's Im running 31's at the moment. I was wondering if it is nescessary to change my gear box or diff gearing to keep the torque ? If so anybody able to point me with all around good gearing ratio for these size tyres?

I ran 32"s with the stock gearing, it was bearable.

But if you want it running good get some 4.5's.

If you want to go bigger with the tyres go 4.88.

I've got 4.5s in mine with 265/75/16, in between 32 and 33, and when i go to 33 i'll be putting in 3.88s. But mine is only a 2L

I ran 4.8's in my LN106 turbo and went heaps better, but I was running 35's. Made the speedo run closer to standard.

I would leave the gearing and see how you find it when you change tyres. I'm running standard gearing in my turboed 3L on 33's but I do have reduction gears so my low range is a lot lower. I like the gearing I've got for the road it's probably around 7% out and sits at 2500 at 100.
