Ok, sussing out my cost effective rear end. (copmared to 8k US one)
Need width total about 2200 tire bulge to tire bulge using 81/2 rims 4" backspace, 315 tyres. Arb or full spool, disc brake when complete, 6 om 5.5 stud pattern.
Looked at MQ h260 2 long sides will give me 2197 (diff 1470 = 1870 cut and shut with 2 long sides)
37 spline, brittle axles, heavy centre, smallish pinion.
VS
60 series 30 spline rear, 80 series 32 spline, 100 series 32 spline bigger drive studs.
Assuming similar length when cut and shut, full float advantage. Assuming 60 has bigger centre / weaker axles. 80 / 100 smaller center stronger axles.
So assuming weight and no full float the only MQ draw back, is the 60s or 100s option any good? Can get longfield axles if needed.
Will I save much weight?
Now for the cut and shut, assuming mark out, cut where parallel, clamp with big angle iron and weld? Is this good enough? Do I need a precision tube down the centre with machined guides like Currie enterprises sells?
I will be trussing top rear and bottom.

although not excessively wide, a very strong (and easy and cheap)combination is grafting IFS lux axles onto toyota 9.5" center sections (40,60,80) the lux axles are extremely strong and more then capable of BIG HP. Do not use aftermarket axles as they do not seem to be anywhere as good! going this direction allow later interchange to off the shelf 35spline side gears and easy retrofit of 300m 35spline (ala ford 9" ) semi floater axles and disc brakes.....
