oils
a commonly available gear oil in say autopro/repco is epx 80/90, which is api-gl5. average joe bloggs would tend to think 'yeah she'll be right, its gear oil, 80/90 about right'
nissan specify api-gl4 for the trolls gearbox.
castrol vmx-m is api-gl4. i have seen one or two others suggested however i dont remember what they were called.
it seems to me that vmx-m is much less common on the shelf and sometimes needs abit of searching to find it
i have seen two separate gearbox's (not from trolls) that have api-gl4 specified, they were both using api-gl5 and had, by the looks of the rest of the gearbox, early bearing failure.
