Looking to run a Large Battery cable to a Fused Distribution Panel in my ute and then run all my accessories off of it (GPS, Compressor, UHF, Gauges et). Got no dramas with that part however I want it to switch on and off with the ignition.
Anyone got any ideas

Power Distribution Block Setup

How big is your compressor? I would just use a standard Cole Hursee 100A solenoid if its a regular size compressor.noodle wrote:because the ignition wirre is just for a signal I can just jack off the stereo ignition wire ?
Any thoughts on which type of solenoid to use ?
In regards to switching the solenoid, I'd say your stereo ignition wire would be capable of switching the solenoid, but if you can try and find a generic ignition wire rather than one attached to a sensitive bit of equipment. My rule of thumb is to try and keep all the stereo kit wired with as much separation as possible so that i don't get any noise or interference from switching etc
Dont forget all your fuses and/or circuit breakers.

Some vehicles have an accessory box already fitted. Most Toyotas for example have a power box including fuses. 1 is constant power, 2 accessories and the 3rd ignition. Makes a good pick up point to trigger a solenoid. Here's a pic of my setup. Cole hersee solenoid and a cooper busman box with 5 relays and 10 circuit breakers. All waterproof. 70 amp circuit breaker protecting the fuse bus bar.
